FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I want to enter into a contract? Isn’t cleaning my gutters in the fall good enough?
We find that almost every house needs a cleaning at least twice a year and sometimes up to 8 times a year. Even after a gutter cleaning, a little bit of debris can get into the gutters. As soon as it rains, this debris runs to the outlets and clogs them. This renders the gutter system useless. By having us take on the burden of gutter maintenance, you are assured that your gutters flow properly, year round. You can forget about your gutters forever.
How do you guarantee my gutters will function properly year round?
We make sure that we clean your gutters in a very timely manner. We then assess your specific situation and we may elect to put in a temporary gutter cover to keep the debris from collecting in your gutters in between cleanings. We take the covers off before winter. We will visually inspect the gutter system from time to time, as needed. And, if you ever see any indication of the gutters not flowing properly, we’ll respond within 48 hours to assess and correct the problem. We have dedicated staff who service our gutter maintenance customers and so you will always be assured of timely response and excellent customer service. And finally, we have detailed scheduling systems to help assure that your gutters get cleaned, on time…every time.
What if I have a gutter cover, do I still need maintenance?
Depending on the gutter cover you have installed, we often find that they still need to be cleaned off on a regular basis. While they may do a reasonable or even a good job of keeping debris out of the gutters, they often collect debris on top of the cover or in the little openings of the gutters. We offer a modified service plan to address the cleanings that are needed to assure that your gutter covers are performing at their highest level. In addition, the front of the gutters still need to be cleaned regularly to assure that your gutters and home look their best.
What if water is wrapping behind my gutters?
Unfortunately this is a common problem. It has to do with the positioning of the existing drip edge and roof shingles. If not addressed, this can lead to wood rot and system failure. Our proprietary product Drip Edge Enhancer™ (www.theguttercarecompany.com/dee) will solve this problem.
Why do my gutters get streaks on the front of the gutter?
This is a common problem. The dirt and pollution in the air mix with rain and that combination runs along the front of the gutters..leading to staining and tiger striping. The bond that is created between the dirt and aluminum is very difficult to clean..it takes special cleaners to remove the staining. We clean off this streaking with your spring cleaning. If you ultimately want a permanent solution, we offer Gutter Edge™ which can eliminate this problem for ever. Gutter Edge creates a little “cover” for the front edge of your gutter, protecting it from future staining (www.theguttercarecompany.com/gutteredge). It comes with a lifetime guarantee against staining.
I see that you offer snow raking as part of your Gutter Care Plus program, how do I know if I need that service?
The answer to this question varies from home to home. Living in New England, we all contend with snow and ice build up on roofs, valleys and gutters. Depending on the specifics of your home, there may be a tendency for this snow to melt in such a way that it creates an ice dam at the roof edge. Over time, this melting water can create an ice dam that may find its way back into the house, causing property damage.
To address this issue, you need to make sure that the ventilation and insulation in your home are at their maximum efficiency. Beyond that, you need to either install a snow and ice heating system (which we offer – www.theguttercarecompany.com/roof_deicing) or we can place you on our auto rake program. By raking the snow off the roofs and valleys, the source of the ice is removed. This then greatly reduces the possibility of any ice dam forming in the first place. We provide complimentary consultations to discuss your homes specific needs.
